What is body rolling?

Yamuna Body Rolling®, or YBR®, is a fitness and therapy practice in which a ball is used as a practitioner’s hands. Through YBR® you can have a strong, toned, pain-free and unrestricted body. From young to distinguished, and from athletic to achey, body rolling can help with discomfort, provide better healing, better sleep and increased energy. 

Do you need extensive knowledge of anatomy to do this?

No. You may watch or be shown by a practitioner where the muscle origin and end points are and how to move the ball. By following the instructions given and gaining better awareness of your muscle’s response, you can learn the best practice for your physique.

Can I do this with another ball?

All the Yamuna® balls were developed to allow for specific resistance and weight bearing to support the body while at the same time let the muscles safely release their tension into the balls. Not all balls are designed to support the body weight while working specific muscles. If the ball cannot hold the body weight or if it is too soft, it will not be as effective. If the ball used is too hard, it could result in unwanted tension.

Is it safe to only do one muscle from a module?
As long as you do the one muscle on both sides of your body, you will not create any side to side imbalances that can upset your structure.
If I do not have time to do all the muscles in a module, is it okay to only do several and just work the side I am having issues on?

If I have a chronic structural problem that I am suffering from, is it safe to study and work with?

Is this safe for children's anatomy?

Yes, children love the idea of rolling on balls and they are still very much in touch with their bodies so they feel all the muscle connections and messages their bodies give them. By teaching children how to find and work their muscles when they are young, they will gain body awareness, stability and alignment through movement.

My name is Kara Pomeroy. I am a certified practitioner in Yamuna® Body Rolling, or YBR® My passion is to empower and help people. I have extensive experience helping people in radiology and nuclear medicine which has ultimately led me to start my own health and wellness business in 2014.

Through Yamuna® I can empower people to move through daily life in a more fluid manner by giving them better body awareness and the techniques to promote proper body alignment.
